Our permaculture orchard and the ducks and chickens shelters, at golden hour

Farming the way nature intended.

We use sustainable and regenerative practices to grow delicious food, support the development of diverse local ecosystems, and create healthy soil for future generations.

Permaculture orchard

Bowterra Farm is a unique and beautifully diverse farm. The orchard is our own Garden of Eden. We grow a diverse variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and medicinal plants using permaculture principles including food forests, no-till soil management, and humane livestock care. This minimizes the amount of maintenance work, increases the food’s nutritional value, and supports a wide variety of wildlife.

Hive therapy house

We offer a unique, holistic form of therapy for our community. Lay on top of a bee hive and get a micro-massage from the wings of thousands of bees vibrating as the sound of their buzzing and the scent of nectar and honey puts you into a state of deep relaxation.

Organic mushrooms

Our mushrooms are not only absolutely delicious, they are an integral part of our farm’s ecosystem. We grow a variety of oyster mushrooms and lion’s mane. The leftover growing material gets reused as a natural fertilizer for our orchard, saving more than 35,000 pounds of waste annually and creating a healthy, balanced soil ecosystem.

You can buy our mushrooms by visiting the farm or finding us at a local farmer’s market.

Humanely raised livestock

We raise chickens, ducks, rabbits, geese and quail with love and care. They openly graze throughout the orchard and provide us with natural pest control and nutrient-dense fertilizer.

You can buy our livestock products by visiting the farm or finding us at a local farmer’s market.

We ❤️ our community!

We are cultivating an inclusive community by supporting other local farmers and neighbors in adopting sustainable and regenerative practices. We love the farm and we want you to love it too!

Children are the future

We offer free tours to schools, allowing students to learn about creating healthy soil, growing mushrooms, and humanely raising animals.

Giving back

We provide the hive therapy house free of charge to community members in need.

Making learning fun

Hands-on activities and orchard walks keep children engaged and having fun. We love to hear that “this was the best field trip ever!”
